- OmniPage (Professional) 15 (Most well known for Mac)
- FineReader 8.0 Pro
- Readiris Pro 11
As far i know there is no open source OCR program.
I use OmniPage already for a long time and it is working perfect. But there are also a lot off other people who like both the other's. So you just have to try them and decide which you like the most.

However, due to limited resources it is only rigorously tested by developers under Windows and Ubuntu. Tesseract up to and including version 2 could only accept TIFF images of simple one-column text as inputs.
